Volunteering Opportunities

Goshen Players is always looking for volunteers to help with productions. There are many areas in which you can become involved.

MARKETING COMMITTEE
Members of the marketing committee meet to plan how best to represent the Goshen Players, to market the current show, to reach our target audience, and to raise funds for our yearly capital campaign. Members are:

  • Available for monthly meetings
  • Willing to work on a team
  • Able to deal with the public on the telephone and in person
  • Able to listen and follow directions
  • Personable

BOX OFFICE
The Box Office of the Old Town Hall is only open during show dates, 1 hour before curtain. Volunteers would be needed before this time and during the beginning of the show. Box Office volunteers will be required to hand out ticket orders and process ticket sales at the door. The Box Office requires volunteers with:

  • Computer literacy
  • Good personality
  • Basic math skills
  • Legible handwriting
  • Ability to deal with the public in person
  • Patience

USHERS/TICKET TAKERS/INTERMISSION STAND
Ushers show patrons to their seats and pass out playbills; ticket takers verify and tear ticket stubs. Intermission stand volunteers sell snacks and coffee during intermission. Volunteers must have:

  • Excellent "people" skills
  • Ability to work on a team
  • Cash handling experience
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to deal with the public in person
  • Patience

SET BUILD
Set build includes pre-production construction and post-production breakdown. The Goshen Players will provide instruction and supervision where and when necessary, but also prefers volunteers who have some of the following:

  • Knowledge of hand and/or power tools
  • Painting experience of any kind
  • Willingness to work and learn all phases of set and prop construction
  • Electrical work experience

STAGE CREW
The stage crew works under the direction of the stage manager. The stage crew moves set pieces and props during a show's performance, and ensures that all set pieces and props are secured at the end of a performance. The stage crew also includes people who are interested in learning about light design and execution. A volunteer would help to hang the lights as well as be available during show nights to help to run the light board during the production. Some computer skill is preferred. You MUST be:

  • Available for all technical rehearsals and performances
  • Able to lift 50 pounds (preferred)
  • Willing to work on a team
  • Able to listen and follow directions

COSTUMES
Costume volunteers assist with the production and maintenance of show costumes. Volunteers should possess:

  • Hand and machine sewing skills
  • Patience
  • Able to make a time commitment weekly
